but what about the children?
July 29, 2004

This getting up early biz is totally reducing my hours of real awakeness during the day. Even though I was telling myself I didn't want to, I took my walk this morning like a good little girl, accompanied by Luna, my newly named iPod. I can tell you that she was a whiz, figuring out what exactly I needed to listen to at which time. I love her.

So, I’m tired, duh. I really don't like being tired all day. I’ve tried the "going to bed earlier" trick, but that doesn't seem to help. Well, that is, I went to bed at 11 last night, which is the earliest I’ve gotten in bed all week. I probably should have fallen asleep earlier, but starting a new book (see: reading list) did help, as I’m still infatuated with a new! book!

Right now I’m thinking that maybe my life is just flying by too quickly. I’m up to the point in my life where I’m actually wishing there were more hours in the day, so I can have the time to do what I need to be able to do après work. Also, when I’m at work, I tend to get frustrated and generally annoyed quite easily and quickly, which really isn't fun. I let go of anger and whatnot rather quickly, but I have a feeling that someday it's all just going to build up within me and my head will explode. While this may be at least mildly entertaining for some, I would rather live with my head than without.

Also, one of you lawyer people (you know who you are) should help me out with this whole PayPal Class Action Settlement. Can I get money out of this? The email that I got was all full of legal talk, which I tend to ignore usually, so I have no clue whatsoever which category I fall into. I did have issues with PayPal a couple of years ago where they took an extra $.50 out of my bank account and transferred it to my PayPal account. I was never able to get ahold of anyone there that could help me figure out why it happened, but I haven’t had any issues since then, so I’ve kind of forgotten about it. If it’s too much of a hassle, I don’t want to worry about getting my $11.50 check from PayPal, because lord knows that everyone and his or her mother, father, brother-in-law, and niece will be trying to get $$$. So, you know, whatev.

Do you drink coffee, Dev? I think I remember something about you shying away from the gross work coffee, but you know, a person can make some very good coffee before work and bring it to work to help stay alert.

Just an idea. I'm sure that you've never thought of drinking coffee to stay awake.

But aren't the morning walks, especially with newly-acquired Luna, glorious??? I would imagine that they would be quite nice. And a little bit of the old exercise never hurt anyone, except when someone got hurt.

so yeah, i drink like 2-24oz. cups of coffee every morning. the coffee at work is crap, and i kind of hate it, but it does indeed keep me awake somewhat.

the walk this morning was definitely nifty. it's strange to walk with music, though, and kind of makes me a bit paranoid. i like to hear if someone's driving up behind me or something. so yeah, the walks can be nice. until i hit the stairs halfway up camel's back. which makes me want to poke my lungs.

if you are one of the class members, that is, someone who has opened a PayPal account within the time frame they specified in the email, then there is a chance you might get paid something.

if you send the lawyers back the letter saying you want to opt out of the settlement, then that means you probably have to go to trial to get anything.

usually lawyers suggest you settle because there is money being offered right under your nose, and also because the trials can go on forever, and be contested, and at the end of the day, the amount you get back will be eaten up by lawyers' fees.

since i personally don't have anything against PayPal, i'm just leaving things as they are, really, so that i can see what happens. for one thing, i didn't even know there was class action being litigated on my behalf, so you know, if i get money, i get money.

the amount you will get will probably NOT be a lot, however!

I second j-a. I got that email as well. I'm sure it's a tiny amount.

And Luna is a great name for an iPod!
