... jiggity jig.
July 13, 2004

I'm back. And let me tell you, boys and girls, there is nothing worse than a Monday at work after a lovely holiday.

It was indeed wonderful, as I?m sure you were all dying to hear. I wasn't able to swim the entire time I was in MI, due to rain and general crappy weather. I don't think it was warmer than 72F on any of the days I was there, so I had to settle into wearing long pants and the one sweater I brought. However, not all was a loss, as I had a fantabulous time, and got to see the Grandma. One more thing to tell you: the Grandma rocks. There were a few things I found out about my family that surprised me a bit. Like my family drinks. A lot. They're not drunkards or anything, they just enjoy a good bruhaha, I guess.

A small photo essay of the highlights? Sure, why not:

The G'ma's house is awesome. Heart.

The G'ma's lake is awesome as well. This was the day I arrived. The only really nice day.

We went to a very windy, rainy, and cold Mackinac Island, where I promptly walked to the Grand Hotel. I was soaked from head to toe by the time I got there (approx. 7 mins. walking), and ended up drinking $10 vodka collins(es?) until I was dry.

One of the really really cool things I found while rifling through G'ma's stuff was a photo album my G'pa kept when he was in the Army, stationed in occupied Japan. Most of the photos I took of the photos were totally blurry, but hopefully one of these days, I'll be able to steal them away long enough to scan them all in. Also found was a scrapbook my G'ma kept when she was in high school. She told me to hide it so no one would ever find it again. I should have stolen it. I never knew she was such a social butterfly - oh the committees, oh the sororities. She's so bleeding cute.
And that's about it, folks. I should have taken more pics, but what can you do? I was there to enjoy myself, not document my life minute-by-minute. That's what I have the B for, but he's in Israel until Aug. 4th. Hmph.

Cool. My grandfather has pictures from when he was in Europe but he won't talk about them and I have never seen them. He showed them to my brother, though.

Hi cutie!

Did you get any pictures of yourself while you were in Michigan? I would love to see how you look now. It's been so long since I've seen you!

Love ya!

good gracious, B. it's been 2 1/2 weeks... I haven't suddenly become blindingly beautiful, nor sickeningly ugly... I have a couple that I took with the phonecam, so I may post them tonight or tomorrow. ^_^

aunt su - of course g'ma was still mad at keith. she will be for a while - you know that she's crotchety. she's still mad at lindsey for the stuff she did this past spring. she'll get over it eventually. ^_^

Ooooh, that looks lovely. Glad you had a good time! I love looking at old pictures of relatives. It reminds me that I need to take lots of pictures of the stuff I do now, so that someday my grandchildren will say, "Wow, grandma, you were so young and glamorous then!!"
